Rell Shows Support For Cappiello

Yesterday, Governor Jodi Rell was the featured speaker at a campaign fundraiser for State Senator David Cappiello's congressional campaign. You can read the story here.

The Governor told the crowd, which included many high ranking Republican officials in our area, to get out the word and vote. She also said Cappiello is one of the hardest working people she knows.

Tony Nania, a former State Representative, has formed an exploratory committee to run against Cappiello for the Republican nomination to face freshman Democratic Congressman Chris Murphy. However, Cappiello has gained the support of many Republicans in the fifth district and now has the Governor's backing. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Come on, if you want to a republican blog that's fine but at least make it clear. Of course the republican governor supports the front-runner who will win the primary if there is one. This race at closest will be 55-45 for murphy.

The Governor has not always been very open this early about who she supports. She didn't endorse McCain until right before the CT primary and she didn't publicly campaign for Nancy Johnson until the end of Oct. in 06. She usually is very quiet so this is actually pretty big for her.

The fact is that she publicly came out and campaigned for him. She doesn't usually do that this early.
