The City Treasurer, City Clerk, Town Clerk

The following is a continuing of the elected officials series.

City Treasurer:

Daniel P. Jowdy

Dan Jowdy was elected Treasurer in 2003 when Republicans swept into control of the city. He beat Democrat Emile Buzaid by almost 2,000 votes. He was re-elected in 2005 beating Democrat Mike McGetrick by about 900 votes. Jowdy is said to be very good at being able to work across party lines, and gets great support from all sides.

City Clerk:

Jean Natale

Jean Natale was elected City Clerk defeating Helena Abrantes in 2003 by about 1700 votes. In 2005 she beat Democrat Eileen Coladarci by much less than her first election. Natale only beat her opponent by about 200 votes in order to win a second term. It has been said that she should expect to have a tough race in 2007 when she runs for a third term as Democrats will try to take back the seat (and the city).

Town Clerk:

Lori Kaback

Lori Kaback is the only Democrat of the top four officials in Danbury. She was elected in 2005 defeating the incumbent Republican, Joe Scozafava. Kaback beat him by over 1,500 votes in the hottest contested race of the year. She was previously the assistant Town Clerk under Scozafava, and decided to challenge him herself. She is also up for re-election in 2007. Her ability to attract people from all sides of the aisle is what has made her so well liked.
